This version introduces a couple small but significant changes to the box. I decided to go with a 1.1 release rather than 1.0.1 point release because the change did break one of my own provisioning scripts.

  • Installed the EPEL 7 beta repository and set it to disabled
  • Installed DKMS from EPEL repository
  • Enabled the ol7_optional_latest repository

The DKMS package allows the kernel to be updated without having to re-install the guest additions. After an update, reboot the box and the DKMS module will detect the new kernel and rebuild the guest additions modules automatically.

The EPEL repository was used to install the DKMS packages. It is still configured however it has been disabled. It can be enabled with the command yum-config-manager --enable epel or used on-demand with the --enablerepos=epel option to yum.

The ol7_optional_latest repo allows access to several packages available by default on other EL7 distributions. For example, installing Puppet from the Puppet Labs repositories should now work.
